On June 24, 2026, Filinvest Mimosa Plus Leisure City unveiled Mebuyan's Cloud, a permanent public art installation by Filipino contemporary artist Leeroy New, at The Creative Park in Clark, Pampanga. The event was led by Don Ubaldo, First Vice President and Head of Filinvest Townships; Atty. Noelle Mina D. Meneses, CDC Vice President for Business Development and Business Enhancement Group; Leeroy New; and Francis Surtida, Project Development Manager of Filinvest Mimosa Plus.
Artist and Inspiration
Leeroy New is known for large-scale, immersive installations using unconventional and recycled materials, often drawing from Philippine folklore. His previous works include Balete, Aliens of Manila, and Mebuyan's Colony, and he has participated in international biennials in Sydney, Honolulu, Busan, Fukuoka, Singapore, Setouchi, Lahore, and Ulaanbaatar. Mebuyan's Cloud is inspired by Mebuyan, a goddess of fertility and the underworld in Bagobo and Manobo traditions. Unlike earlier temporary works in New's Mebuyan series, this installation is constructed entirely from metal, marking a shift toward permanence and positioning the myth as a present-day experience.
Interactive and Cultural Role
The installation is designed to be entered and navigated, with suspended interconnected elements creating pathways for visitors to move through rather than observe from a distance. This interactive quality fosters connection in a physical space, reintroducing Filipino cultural narratives into a collective community experience. Don Ubaldo stated, “We see our parks as engaging third spaces where people can gather and connect in meaningful ways. With Mebuyan’s Cloud, we are proud to bring in elements of Filipino culture through a permanent public artwork that people can experience up close. It adds another layer to how our parks function, not just as places to spend time in, but as community spaces where people can learn, encounter culture, and enrich their everyday lives.”
Access and Township Context
Mebuyan's Cloud is open to the public daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM at The Creative Park in Filinvest Mimosa Plus.
