Taylor Swift Files Trademark for Her Voice Against AI Misuse
Taylor Swift Trademarks Voice to Fight AI Abuse

Singer Taylor Swift has filed trademark applications at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to protect her voice from unauthorized use by artificial intelligence (AI). The move comes amid a surge in AI-generated content mimicking celebrities.

Two Sound Recordings Filed

Swift submitted two sound recordings, each beginning with the phrase “Hey, it’s Taylor,” announcing the release of her new album “The Life of a Showgirl,” which came out in October. The filings aim to safeguard her vocal identity from being replicated by AI models without permission.

Precedent Set by Matthew McConaughey

Swift is not the first celebrity to take such action. Actor Matthew McConaughey previously filed a trademark for his voice as protection against unauthorized AI-generated uses. These steps highlight growing concerns in the entertainment industry over AI technology's potential to infringe on intellectual property rights.
