Archbishop Villegas Calls on Clergy to Become Organ Donors
Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas has issued a fraternal appeal encouraging clergymen of the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan to consider becoming organ donors. In his appeal, Villegas expressed hope that priests will opt to donate their organs to those in need.
"Organ donation while we are still alive, and especially after we have died, is a witness to our hope that life is more powerful than death," Villegas said. "As your Archbishop, I am asking each of you to consider the gift of life through organ donation."
Organ Donation as a Christian Witness
Villegas emphasized that such a move would be significant as it offers a way to give or extend the life of recipients. "As Christians, we believe that death is not the end but a new beginning... It is a gift of ourselves so others may live," he added.
Domino Effect on the Faithful
The archbishop also expressed hope that the clergy's example would inspire parishioners. "I hope the example we set as willing organ donors can inspire our parishioners to do the same," Villegas said. The appeal aims to create a ripple effect within the community, encouraging more people to consider organ donation.
