A former production intern of the popular television show Wowowee has ignited online discussions after claiming that staff members were allegedly prohibited from making eye contact with host Willie Revillame. The revelation came during a podcast interview uploaded on TikTok, where former intern Jiego Perez shared his experiences working on the show.
Alleged Studio Rules
Perez stated that employees were given strict instructions not to approach or directly look at Revillame while inside the studio. “Kapag nasa studio huwag mo siyang lalapitan. Kung magkakasalisi kayo umiwas ka’ng tumingin talaga. Kasi ang mapa-fire yung production supervisor,” Perez claimed, translating to: “When in the studio, do not approach him. If you cross paths, avoid looking at him. Otherwise, the production supervisor could be fired.”
Additional Allegations
He also alleged that staff members were discouraged from speaking with the veteran host. Perez, who served as a jacket distributor for the show, jokingly criticized the quality of the garment, saying “hindi siya maganda, ang siko lang makapal” — meaning “it’s not good, only the elbows are thick.”
Public Reaction
The claims have drawn mixed reactions from netizens. Some questioned the timing of Perez’s statements, noting that Revillame’s show Wowowin is reportedly in talks to return to GMA Network. Others expressed support for the intern, calling for more transparency in the entertainment industry.
As of press time, Willie Revillame and GMA Network have not issued an official response to the allegations.
