Actor Dingdong Dantes has clarified that he has no plans to enter politics, despite his name appearing in several surveys for possible Senate candidates in the 2028 national elections.
Staying in the Entertainment Industry
According to Dantes, he prefers to remain in the acting industry and is not yet ready to venture into politics. The actor admitted that while he has an interest in helping others, it does not mean he will run for any government position.
Focus on Advocacy
Currently, Dantes is active as chairman of Aktor PH or the League of Filipino Actors, an organization that aims to promote the welfare, rights, and career development of actors in the Philippines, including those behind the camera in film and television. The actor said his more active advocacy began during the pandemic, when challenges and uncertainties in the industry surfaced.
"During that time, we had many uncertainties, many questions about the industry, about ourselves, about health, many fears. But above all, hopes prevailed," Dantes said. He added that being part of a community that cares for others had a great impact on him.
30 Years in Showbiz
Dantes is also celebrating his 30th year in the showbiz industry, while continuing to actively produce films and television series.
