Sherwin Dacullo proved his mettle despite being considered the underdog, defeating Jerome Cometa via split decision to defend the Philippine Youth minimumweight belt on April 26, 2026, during the "Sanman 100" celebration held at Kristen Resort and Hotel in General Santos City.
Coach Flores Praises Dacullo's Control
According to Brix Flores, head coach of Noy Pacing Flores Boxing Academy and trainer of Dacullo, his ward controlled the pace of the fight from the second round until the end. Even though Dacullo was knocked down in the final round after being hit by a solid right hook from Cometa, he quickly got up and retaliated with attacks as if nothing had happened.
"It was an exciting fight. The fans were on the edge of their seats. Sherwin was very good on defense, his counter attacks, and his punch combinations," Flores said.
