The Mandaue City Council is working to fully mobilize the Anti-Dengue Task Force as part of intensified efforts to prevent a potential surge in dengue cases during the rainy season.
Councilor calls for community-wide action
Councilor Raul “Kevin” Cabahug, chair of the Committee on Health and Hospital Services, said the initiative urges all 27 barangays, schools, business establishments, and private institutions to strengthen cleanup drives and eliminate mosquito breeding sites, in line with the Mandaue City Anti-Dengue Ordinance.
“Prevention is always better than cure. There is an urgent need to mobilize our barangays, schools, establishments, and private entities to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and intensify public awareness on dengue prevention,” Cabahug said.
Proposed resolutions and monitoring
The proposed resolutions also aim to reactivate the city’s Anti-Dengue Task Force and mandate barangays to conduct regular monitoring, cleanup activities, and submit periodic reports to ensure compliance with the city’s anti-dengue campaign.
Cabahug noted that the initiative is designed to strengthen community participation in preventing a possible dengue outbreak, especially as the rainy season increases the risk of mosquito breeding across Mandaue City.
