Thirteen areas in the Philippines are expected to experience a "danger" level heat index on Monday, May 4, according to the state weather bureau. Based on the forecast, these areas may record a heat index ranging from 42 degrees Celsius to 44 degrees Celsius.
Highest temperature expected in Dagupan City
The highest temperature of 44 degrees Celsius is expected to hit Dagupan City. Meanwhile, Sinait in Ilocos Sur and Laoag City in Ilocos Norte are projected to reach 43 degrees Celsius.
Other areas with 42 degrees Celsius
The following areas are expected to experience a heat index of 42 degrees Celsius:
- MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte
- Aparri, Cagayan
- Tuguegarao City, Cagayan
- San Ildefonso, Bulacan
- TAU Camiling, Tarlac
- San Jose, Occidental Mindoro
- Cuyo, Palawan
- Maasin, Southern Leyte
- Davao City, Davao del Sur
Extreme caution and caution levels
In addition, 61 areas, including two locations in Metro Manila, are expected to experience "extreme caution" heat index levels, ranging from 33 degrees Celsius to 41 degrees Celsius. Only Tanay, Rizal is forecast to be under the "caution level," with a heat index of 32 degrees Celsius.
