The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) 7 released 183 Green Sea Turtle hatchlings into the waters off Panglao, Bohol on July 3, 2026. The hatchlings emerged from a protected nest at Hennan Premier Coast in Barangay Tawala.
Incubation and Hatching Details
The eggs, numbering 198, underwent an incubation period of 51 days. Of these, 183 successfully hatched, while 15 eggs remain unhatched and are still being monitored until the incubation period concludes.
DENR 7 Director Laudemir Salac attributed the successful hatching to collaborative conservation efforts supported by the government, private sector, and local community.
Conservation Significance
“Every protected nest and every hatching that reaches the sea is a meaningful step toward securing the future of our marine biodiversity,” Salac said. The release underscores the importance of protecting sea turtle nesting sites and maintaining healthy marine ecosystems.
