At least 18 homes were completely destroyed in three separate fires that hit different areas of Cebu City on Monday and Tuesday, June 15-16, 2026, with damages amounting to nearly one million pesos.

First Fire in Barangay Kalunasan

The first fire alarm was raised at 4:16 PM on Monday, June 15, 2026, in Gacasan 2, Sityo Upper Camparang, Barangay Kalunasan. One house owned by Jeremil Alarde was completely razed, with damage estimated at PHP 150,000.

Second Fire in Barangay Labangon

At 7:05 PM on the same day, another fire was responded to by the Cebu City Fire Station in a residential area in Bugnay 2, Barangay Labangon. The fire started at the home of Jemma Calago and quickly spread to neighboring houses. A total of 14 houses were completely destroyed, while 4 were partially burned. The Bureau of Fire estimated damages at PHP 210,000, and 14 affected families were temporarily housed at the Labangon gym.

Third Fire in Barangay Mabolo

In another incident, residents of Sityo Stacionan, Barangay Mabolo were shocked when a boarding house ignited at 4:29 AM on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. The fire caused extensive damage, though specific figures were not immediately available. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze, preventing further destruction.

Authorities are investigating the causes of the fires, which have left dozens of families homeless. The Cebu City government has provided assistance to affected residents, including temporary shelter and relief goods.
