Angeles City Water District and Police Forge Alliance to Protect Water Supply and Community Safety
The Angeles City Water District (ACWD), in collaboration with its partner PrimeWater, has taken a proactive step to bolster community security and ensure the integrity of the city's water supply. This initiative involves close coordination with the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) and local barangay officials, aiming to address critical issues that threaten public safety and resource management.
Oversight Committee Meeting Highlights Key Security Measures
During a recent Oversight Committee meeting, key stakeholders discussed comprehensive strategies to combat various illegal activities. The agenda focused on two primary areas: enhancing law enforcement operations and protecting water infrastructure. Specifically, the meeting covered the implementation of Lambat-Sibat operations, which target illegal drugs and gambling, as well as actions against illegal water connections and water meter theft.
The ACWD emphasized that illegal water tapping is not only a violation of the law but also has severe practical consequences. It leads to low water pressure in households, disrupting daily life, and poses a serious danger during fire emergencies by compromising water availability. In a statement, the ACWD urged residents to remain vigilant, saying, "If you notice any suspicious connections or activities, please report them immediately to your barangay or to the PNP. Together, let us protect our community’s water."
Leadership and Collaborative Efforts
The meeting was led by prominent figures from both law enforcement and water management sectors. Lieutenant Colonel Rolando M. Doroja, Deputy City Director for Operations of ACPO, and ACWD General Manager Guy Lopez spearheaded the discussions, underscoring the importance of inter-agency cooperation. This partnership aims to create a unified front against crimes that impact both public safety and essential services.
By integrating efforts with barangay officials, the initiative seeks to foster a community-based approach to security. This collaboration is expected to enhance monitoring and response mechanisms, ensuring that illegal activities are promptly addressed and that the water supply remains secure for all residents of Angeles City.
