The Japanese official warmly welcomed the Philippine delegation and assured continued assistance to the Philippines to enhance bilateral relations.

Key Outcomes of the Meeting

Teodoro expressed gratitude for Japan's support, citing the recent firefighting aid in Navotas City's landfill as an example. The two officials also plan to observe the ongoing Balikatan exercises in Ilocos Norte, where Japan will deploy its Type 88 surface-to-ship missiles for the first time. Approximately 1,400 Japanese soldiers are participating in this year's exercises.

Strengthening Security Cooperation

Earlier, Minister Koizumi met with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who assured security assistance for the Philippines. The meeting underscores the deepening defense partnership between Japan and the Philippines amid regional security challenges.
