Senator Raffy Tulfo has confirmed that he has no plans to run for president in 2028, despite nearly tying with Vice President Sara Duterte in recent surveys. In an interview, Tulfo thanked the public for their continued trust but clarified that he prefers to continue his work as a senator.
Tulfo's Statement
“Well, first of all, with all humility, I am grateful for the trust. But I said it before and I’m going to say it again, I have no intention of running as President in 2028,” Tulfo said. Instead, the senator confirmed that he will run for re-election in the Senate. “Final answer… not at all. Even if the sky falls,” Tulfo declared.
Content with Current Role
According to the senator, he is content with his current position and believes he can do more as a legislator. He added that the responsibility of being president is heavier and comes with more “headaches,” which is why he does not aspire for a higher position at this time.
