Authorities in Thailand are investigating the cause of a collision between a train and a bus in Bangkok, with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visiting the scene on Saturday evening to oversee the response and ensure assistance for the injured.

Eight people were killed and 32 others were injured in the accident, according to a statement from Thailand's Ministry of Transport. All fatalities were bus passengers. The collision also sparked a fire and damaged several cars and motorcycles nearby.

At around 3:40 p.m. local time, a train traveling from Chachoengsao province to Bang Sue in Bangkok struck a bus at a railway crossing in central Bangkok. The impact caused a fire and loud sounds of breaking objects. Rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene to extinguish the blaze and rescue passengers.
The fire was completely put out, and all injured individuals have been taken to the nearest hospitals for treatment. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities focusing on determining the exact cause of the crash and preventing similar incidents in the future.
