In a gesture of holiday solidarity, soldiers from the Philippine Army brought festive cheer to a remote community in Basilan province this past weekend.

Christmas Spirit Delivered to Pamatsaken

The Alpha Company of the 32nd Infantry Battalion (32IB) organized a special Christmas outreach activity on Saturday, December 27, 2025. The event took place in Pamatsaken village, located within the municipality of Sumisip. According to an official statement released by the battalion the following day, Sunday, December 28, the initiative successfully provided assistance to 89 local households.

Building Bonds Through Compassion

Captain Jan Bert Madlangbayan, the commanding officer of Alpha Company, led the distribution of Christmas goods within their designated area of responsibility. The military emphasized that the activity was more than just a gift-giving event; it was a profound expression of care and compassion.

The 32IB explained that the outreach aimed to allow community members to experience and share the authentic spirit of Christmas. Furthermore, it sought to uplift the morale of residents and reinforce the crucial bond between soldiers and the civilians they serve and protect.

A Commitment Beyond Security

This initiative highlights the battalion's ongoing dedication to civil-military cooperation. The 32IB stated that the activity underscores the Philippine Army's dual role in the region. While its primary mandate is to ensure peace and security, the Army also actively supports the well-being and social fabric of communities in Basilan province.

The outreach in Pamatsaken village serves as a concrete example of the military's commitment to shared humanity, especially during the holiday season, fostering a relationship built on mutual concern and solidarity.
