Zamboanga deploys 2,000+ cops for Undas 2025 security

Zamboanga City is gearing up for a secure and orderly observance of Undas 2025 with the Philippine National Police deploying more than 2,000 police personnel across the region. The massive security operation aims to ensure public safety during the traditional All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day commemorations.

Comprehensive Security Strategy

Police Colonel Raymond Demong, acting city police director, revealed that the security preparations include establishing police assistance desks in all 42 public and private cemeteries throughout Zamboanga City. These desks will be operational 24/7 to assist the expected influx of visitors paying respects to their departed loved ones.

Traffic Management and Public Assistance

The Zamboanga City Police Office has coordinated with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the City Traffic Enforcement Unit to implement comprehensive traffic management plans. Authorities anticipate heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in cemetery areas and have prepared contingency measures to maintain smooth flow.

"Our personnel will be strategically deployed to ensure the safety and security of everyone visiting cemeteries and traveling during this period," Demong emphasized during a press briefing.

Enhanced Police Visibility

The security blueprint includes:

  • Increased police visibility in crowded areas
  • Regular patrol operations around cemetery perimeters
  • Coordination with barangay officials for community support
  • Quick response teams on standby for emergencies

Public Cooperation Encouraged

Police authorities are urging the public to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activities or individuals immediately. The enhanced security measures are part of the PNP's "Ligtas Undas 2025" program, which focuses on preventive security rather than reactive measures.

With these preparations in place, Zamboanga City aims for a peaceful and orderly observance of the Undas tradition, allowing residents to commemorate their departed loved ones in a safe and secure environment.
