Dozens of people have been killed in intensified Israeli strikes on southern and eastern Lebanon, despite a ceasefire that took effect in mid-April. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to ramp up military action against Hezbollah, leading to a new wave of attacks.
Casualties and Damage
According to the Lebanon health ministry, 31 people were killed in the latest round of attacks, including several children. The Israeli military reported hitting over 100 Hezbollah infrastructure sites and fighters, describing it as one of the heaviest bombing campaigns since the ceasefire began.
Netanyahu's Statement
In a security cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Netanyahu said Israel is deepening its operations in Lebanon and strengthening the security zone to protect communities in northern Israel from Hezbollah attacks. The strikes mark a significant escalation, threatening the fragile truce.
