As the dry season commences, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) is alerting its members to the availability of coverage for heat-related illnesses. This initiative aims to safeguard Filipinos from the escalating temperatures and associated health hazards that often accompany this period.
Inpatient Benefit Packages for Summer Health Risks
PhilHealth emphasizes that members can access inpatient benefit packages for common summer- and heat-related conditions at any accredited hospital across the nation. This coverage is designed to minimize out-of-pocket expenses, providing crucial financial relief. The specific packages include:
- Heat stroke, heat exhaustion, heat collapse, heat cramp, and sunstroke: P12,675
- Heat fatigue and other effects of heat and light: P18,135
- Moderate to severe dehydration: P7,800
- Varicella/chickenpox without complication: P7,800
- Typhoid fever: P19,500
- Sore eyes/conjunctivitis: P16,575
- Infectious diarrhea/acute gastroenteritis: P11,700
- Toxic effect of contact with marine animals: P11,115
Emergency Care Coverage for Urgent Needs
In addition to inpatient benefits, PhilHealth reiterates that emergency health care requirements, whether heat-related or otherwise, are covered under the Outpatient Emergency Care Benefit (OECB) Package.
