A significant boost to local security forces in the South was achieved as 200 Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliaries successfully finished their military courses. The graduation ceremony took place on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the 11th Division Training School located in Tagbak village, Indanan, Sulu.

Training Details and Graduation

The cohort of 200 graduates was split into two key groups. Precisely 100 personnel completed the Basic Military Training (BMT) Classes, designed to equip new recruits with fundamental soldiering skills. The other 100 underwent Refresher Training Classes, which served to update and enhance the capabilities of existing auxiliaries. The entire training program was conducted under the direct supervision of Lieutenant Colonel Joel Delmendo, the Commandant of the 11th Division Training School, who ensured the curriculum instilled the necessary skills, discipline, and values.

Leadership Emphasizes Crucial Community Role

In his keynote address to the graduates, Major General Leonardo Peña, the commander of the 11th Infantry Division, underscored the indispensable function of the CAFGU. He highlighted them as essential force multipliers and dependable partners of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the ongoing mission to maintain peace and order.

General Peña elaborated that their contribution extends beyond direct support to military operations. He pointed out their critical role in strengthening community cooperation and building trust at the grassroots level, which is fundamental for lasting stability. He urged the new graduates to uphold the highest standards of discipline, integrity, and professionalism in their duties, reminding them that their service is a cornerstone for sustaining peace, stability, and development in their home communities.

Commitment to Enhanced Capability

The successful completion of this training batch reflects the sustained commitment of the 11th Infantry Division to its capacity-building programs. Major General Peña stated that this initiative is part of the division's continuous effort to enhance the capability and readiness of its auxiliary forces. This enhanced readiness directly supports the peace and security campaigns not only in Sulu but also in the neighboring province of Basilan. The graduation of these 200 auxiliaries marks a tangible step forward in fortifying local defenses and fostering a more secure environment for residents.
