Mixer Truck Causes Power Outage and Accident in Pasig

A mixer truck struck low-hanging cables on a utility pole in Pasig City on Tuesday afternoon, causing a power outage that affected approximately 2,800 customers of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco). The incident occurred around 2:00 PM along Sandoval Avenue in Barangay Pinagbuhatan and Barangay Nagpayong.

How the Accident Happened

According to reports, telecommunication cable wires were hanging from the pole. The mixer truck accidentally snagged these wires, pulling the pole down. The falling pole then struck three motorcycles, two tricycles, and a closed van. One individual was reported injured but received immediate first aid.

Impact on Traffic and Power

The accident caused severe traffic congestion in the area. Meralco crews worked for up to 10 hours to fully restore power to the affected consumers. The lengthy repair time was due to the need to replace the damaged pole and reattach the electrical and telecommunication lines.
