PRO 7 Arrests 353, Seizes P13.2M Shabu in Week

Police in Central Visayas have reported a significant breakthrough in their fight against crime, arresting hundreds of suspects and seizing millions worth of illegal substances in a concentrated week-long operation.

Major Haul in Pre-Holiday Crackdown

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 conducted intensified law enforcement operations from December 21 to 27, 2025. This campaign was a key part of the Philippine National Police's broader holiday security initiative aimed at ensuring public safety during the festive season.

In a massive blow to the drug trade in the region, authorities carried out 216 anti-illegal drug operations. These efforts resulted in the arrest of 237 drug personalities and the confiscation of 1,953.65 grams of suspected shabu. The estimated street value of the seized narcotics is a staggering P13,285,092.

Wanted Persons, Firearms, and Gambling Raids

Beyond the anti-drug campaign, PRO 7 units were active on multiple fronts. Police conducted 54 manhunt operations, leading to the capture of 51 wanted persons. Among those apprehended, 14 were listed as most wanted individuals with standing warrants for their arrest.

The crackdown on loose firearms was equally productive. Operations in this sector led to the arrest of 25 suspects and the recovery of:

  • 55 firearms of various calibers
  • 109 rounds of ammunition
  • 2 explosive devices

Furthermore, police targeted illegal gambling activities, executing 25 operations that resulted in the arrest of 40 individuals and the seizure of P6,280 in gambling money.

Sustained Operations for Upcoming Major Events

PRO 7 Director Brigadier General Redrico Maranan emphasized that the intensified anti-crime drive will not end with the holidays. He stated that police are preparing for major upcoming events in Central Visayas, including the world-renowned Sinulog Festival 2026 and the ASEAN Summit.

"The intensity of our operational efforts will be sustained even after the holidays," Maranan said. "As bigger events approach, especially the Sinulog Festival 2026, PRO 7 will continue proactive policing, intensified security measures, and intelligence-driven operations to ensure public safety."

The total tally from the weeklong campaign stands at 353 individuals arrested across all operations, underscoring the police's commitment to maintaining order and security in the region as it gears up for high-profile international and cultural gatherings.
