Operatives from the Sigma Municipal Police Station (MPS) successfully apprehended a high-priority suspect known as alias "Anthony" during a targeted search warrant operation in Barangay Poblacion Sur, Sigma, Capiz. The arrest occurred at precisely 12:29 a.m. on February 26, 2026, marking a significant victory in the region's ongoing anti-drug campaign.
Massive Drug Haul and Suspect Details
During the meticulously executed operation, police confiscated a substantial quantity of illegal substances. Authorities seized 45 grams of shabu, with an estimated street value of P306,000. The drugs were found in nine heat-sealed transparent sachets, which were discovered alongside several non-drug items believed to be connected to illicit activities.
The arrested individual, alias Anthony, is a 38-year-old resident of Barangay Poblacion Sur. He has been officially listed on the Provincial Priority Target List, identifying him as a street-level individual (SLI) involved in the drug trade. Following his arrest, the suspect was placed under the custody of the Sigma MPS, where he remains as legal proceedings advance.
Legal Basis and Commendation from Police Leadership
The operation was conducted under the authority of a search warrant issued for violations of Republic Act (RA) 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. This warrant was granted by the Regional Trial Court, 6th Judicial Region, Branch 21, located in Mambusao, Capiz, on February 16, 2026.
Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, the director of the Police Regional Office-Western Visayas (PRO 6), publicly praised the operating units for their coordinated and effective efforts. In a statement, Ligan emphasized the strategic importance of this arrest, highlighting its role in the broader fight against narcotics.
"The arrest of this priority target demonstrates our sustained, intelligence-driven efforts to dismantle the illegal drug network in Western Visyas. We will continue to intensify our operations and strengthen collaboration with our communities to ensure that those who threaten public safety are brought to justice," Ligan stated.

Authorities have confirmed that alias Anthony will face serious legal consequences for his alleged involvement in drug-related activities. He is set to be charged with violations of Section 11 and Section 12 of RA 9165, which pertain to the possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia, respectively.
