The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is reminding Regional Parliamentary Political Parties (RPPPs) to timely hold their conventions and subsequently submit their list of authorized signatories as required for the September 2026 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE).
Deadline for Conventions
In its Resolution 11216, the Comelec stated that RPPPs have until Wednesday, April 29, 2026, to conduct their conventions in order to nominate official candidates for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) district representative seats. The polls are scheduled for September 14, 2026.
“RPPPs and coalitions may hold party conventions to nominate their official candidates for the parliamentary district representative seats. Such party convention may be held until April 29, 2026,” the Comelec said.
Submission of Authorized Signatories
Immediately after the conventions, the commission requires RPPPs to submit their Sworn List of Authorized Signatories. The chairperson, president, or secretary-general must personally submit this list to the Law Department on or before April 30, 2026.
The Sworn List must include three specimen signatures, the positions of the authorized signatories within the RPPP or coalition, and their respective territorial jurisdictions or places of authority to nominate and sign the Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) for official candidates.
The Comelec warned that failure to submit the Sworn List within the prescribed period will result in the declaration of their nominees as independent candidates.
Registration of RPPPs
Earlier, the Comelec en banc approved the registration of 10 RPPPs while rejecting one application. The approved parties are:
- Bangsamoro Party
- Alliance of Bangsamoro Tri-Peoples Party
- Bangsamoro People's Democratic Party
- Best Party
- Progresibong Bangsamoro Party
- Bangsamoro People's Party
- Bangsamoro Federalist Party
- BARMM Grand Coalition
- Moro Ako Party
- Indigenous Settlers Sama and Minorities Alliance Party
The petition of the People's Consultative Mushawara Party was rejected by the Comelec.
