New Police Chief Visits Cebu Officials for Courtesy Calls

Police Brigadier General Arnold Abad, the newly appointed director of the Central Visayas police, paid courtesy calls on local government leaders in Cebu on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

Meeting with Governor and Local Mayors

Abad first visited Governor Pamela Baricuatro, informing her that he had replaced Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, who is now the head of the Philippine National Police Academy. He then proceeded to meet with mayors in Metro Cebu, including Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival and Cebu City Police Chief Police Colonel George Ylanan, Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano along with Congresswoman Emmarie “Lollypop” Ouano, and Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Ma. Cynthia “Cindi” King Chan.

Emphasizing Unity and Collaboration

Abad stressed the importance of unity between the police force and local chief executives, as well as members of Congress, for the maintenance of peace and order in Central Visayas. During his series of courtesy visits, he pledged to strengthen coordination and cooperation among inter-agency bodies, local government units, and legislative leaders.

The initiative aims to ensure the effective implementation of peace and order strategies, crime suppression, and public safety programs. These engagements will serve as a platform for plans aligned with PNP programs, addressing security concerns, and ensuring unity for a safe community.

“As your police force, we are committed to delivering service that is fast, honest, and truly felt by the people. Strengthening our partnership with our local leaders ensures that our strategies are aligned, our resources are maximized, and our response remains swift, responsive, and impactful in addressing the needs of our communities,” Abad said.

He also assured that police officers in Central Visayas will continue to serve with professionalism and integrity through proactive policing to support responsible governance for the region's security.
