Luistro: Impeachment vs VP Sara Not Rushed

Batangas 2nd District Representative Gerville Luistro, chair of the House Committee on Justice, emphasized that the House of Representatives did not rush or skip any steps in the impeachment process against Vice President Sara Duterte. According to Luistro, the committee strictly adhered to the Constitution and ensured that all proceedings, including hearings and review of the complaint, followed proper procedures.

Probable Cause Established

Last Wednesday, the committee found probable cause to move forward with the impeachment. The panel is currently finalizing the committee report containing the articles of impeachment, which will be submitted to the plenary of the House. Luistro stressed that it is the committee's duty to approve the documents and transmit them to the full House for further action, including the required vote of one-third of its members before sending the case to the Senate for trial.

Commitment to Fairness

Luistro added, "If the Vice President is guilty, let the truth judge her; if she is innocent, let the process clear her name." The statement underscores the committee's commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent process, regardless of the outcome.
