Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla confirmed that a subpoena has been served to Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa at his office and residence, in connection with the alleged extrajudicial killings in the Davao Region.
During a press briefing on Monday, May 11, the Secretary read the contents of the subpoena duces tecum, which requires Dela Rosa to appear on May 14 at 10 a.m. before the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) in Quezon City. The subpoena also orders Dela Rosa to submit a sworn affidavit, documents, and other relevant information related to the investigation.
Remulla warned that failure to comply with the subpoena could be grounds for filing a case of indirect contempt against the senator in court.
The DILG chief clarified that the subpoena has no connection to rumors regarding an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC). He emphasized that they have not yet received an official copy of any possible arrest warrant from the ICC.
