The Philippine National Police (PNP) is awaiting a court order before taking action on the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa. PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño stated that the police force will comply with existing laws and legitimate directives regarding the reported confirmed ICC arrest warrant.
PNP to Follow Legal Protocols
According to Tuaño, should a court order be issued, the national police will implement appropriate contingency plans and operational measures in accordance with proper processes and protocols. This will be done in coordination with the National Central Bureau of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), through which the ICC issues arrest warrants, as well as the Philippine Center for Transnational Crime, the Philippine counterpart of Interpol, and other concerned authorities.
Security Measures at the Senate
Meanwhile, PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. defended the deployment of police personnel around the Senate. He emphasized that the presence of law enforcement at the Senate is a proactive security measure to ensure order and safety within the institution. The PNP remains committed to upholding the rule of law while ensuring the security of government institutions and public officials.
