Bago City Mayor Envisions City as Next Investment Hub in Negros Occidental
Bago City Mayor Marina Javellana-Yao has boldly proclaimed that their city is poised to become the next major investment destination in Negros Occidental. In a recent statement, she emphasized the growing interest from investors and outlined strategic initiatives to foster economic growth while enhancing public services.
Attracting Investors with Competitive Advantages
Mayor Javellana-Yao highlighted that one of the key factors driving investor interest is the relatively lower land values in Bago City compared to neighboring areas in the province. "I claim and manifest that Bago City will be the next big thing in Negros Occidental because a lot of investors are expressing interest in investing in the city," she asserted. She noted that numerous investment proposals are currently in the pipeline, with several business prospects in the process of establishing operations locally. However, specific details remain confidential as plans are still being finalized.
Prioritizing Social Services and Infrastructure
Beyond economic development, the mayor stressed that the city administration is equally focused on improving social services, healthcare, and education programs. During her first 100 days in office, Javellana-Yao implemented the establishment of satellite offices to ensure efficient governance and accessibility for all residents, known as Bagonhons. Key initiatives include:
- Creation of a City Social Welfare and Development Office satellite office in Barangay Ma-ao.
- Partnership with the Public Attorney's Office to launch "PAO sa Ma-ao," offering legal counseling, documentation, notarial, and other legal services.
- Mobile service programs such as Lingkod Pag-ibig on Wheels, PhilHealth on Wheels, LTO on Wheels, and SSS on Wheels to bring essential services directly to the community.
Investing in Education and Community Development
In the realm of education, Mayor Javellana-Yao announced that 20 percent of the city's development fund will be allocated to Bago City College. Additionally, plans are underway for the construction of a college dormitory to support students. The administration has also launched the Asenso Bago Flagship Initiatives, a comprehensive program aimed at promoting inclusive growth through projects addressing sports, health, electrification, and water accessibility.
A Vision of Compassionate Governance
Guided by the principle "May Gugma nga Panghimanwa" (With Love and Compassion), Javellana-Yao vowed to serve the people of Bago with dedication and empathy. She called on residents to actively participate in and support the city's ongoing development efforts, emphasizing that collective cooperation is essential for sustained progress. "We are committed to bringing our services closer to the people," she reiterated, underscoring her administration's holistic approach to governance that balances economic ambition with social welfare.
