Police officers from the Mambaling Police Station successfully apprehended a 15-year-old male in a targeted buy-bust operation on Sunday evening, December 28, 2025. The operation, which led to the confiscation of suspected shabu valued at over one million pesos, took place in Sitio Puntod, Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City.

Details of the Drug Bust Operation

The arrest occurred at approximately 10:20 PM. The target of the operation was identified as a minor using the alias "Jan," a 15-year-old resident of Sitio Bliss within the same barangay. During the operation, authorities recovered packages containing a substance believed to be shabu. The confiscated drugs had an estimated weight of 180 grams and a street value of P1.2 million.

Evidence Processing and Ongoing Investigation

Following the arrest, the evidence was immediately turned over to the PNP Forensic Unit 7 for the necessary chemical analysis to confirm the substance. The minor is currently under the custody of the Mambaling Police Station while the investigation progresses.

During questioning, the young suspect reportedly provided information about his alleged drug supplier. This intelligence has become the focus of a follow-up operation by the police force aiming to apprehend the source.

Legal Charges Filed Against the Minor

The police are now preparing formal charges against the arrested minor for violations under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The specific charges being filed are for breaches of:

  • Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and
  • Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs)

of Article II under Republic Act 9165. This case highlights the continuing efforts of local law enforcement in Cebu to combat the illegal drug trade, even when it involves minors.
