Cebu City Launches 24/7 'Mayor of the Night' Government Service Hub with Major Agency Support

In a significant move to enhance public service accessibility, Cebu City has formally signed a lease contract for its innovative 24/7 "Mayor of the Night" government service hub on March 2, 2026. The ceremonial signing, held at the Mayor's Office, marks a pivotal step in establishing a round-the-clock one-stop center designed to cater to night-shift workers, particularly those in the bustling business process outsourcing (BPO) sector.

Strengthening Collaboration for Extended Service Hours

Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival emphasized that this initiative strengthens collaboration between the local government, national agencies, and private sector partners. The goal is to make frontline services available beyond the traditional 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. office hours, addressing the needs of employees working evening and graveyard shifts. At least 10 national government agencies have committed to join the hub, ensuring a comprehensive range of services.

Participating Agencies and Stakeholder Support

BPO Sector Backing and Operational Details

Leaders from the BPO sector have enthusiastically backed the initiative, with companies such as AZPIRED BPO, Cebu Telenet Philippines, NAP Solutions Inc., Shearwater Health, Tahche, Tech Mahindra, TTEC, Virtual Staffing Solutions, Conduent, and SOS present at the signing. The lease agreement was formalized by Kim John Cebrecus, president of Eklektos Estates Inc., with Maxim Angelo Cebrecus, corporate secretary, serving as witness.

Once operational, the "Mayor of the Night" office will bridge the gap between standard government hours and the schedules of night-shift workers. This will allow employees to process government transactions without taking leave or sacrificing rest time, significantly enhancing convenience and efficiency for the workforce.
