In a significant relief initiative, the Province of Cebu has successfully distributed rice to thousands of Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ) drivers, marking the first phase of a broader support program for transport workers. On Thursday, April 9, 2026, a total of 2,120 PUJ drivers in Cebu Province received 10 kilos of rice each during an initial distribution event held at the Capitol.
Targeting Over 4,000 Transport Workers
Elizar Sabinay, the executive assistant to the Provincial Governor, announced that the Capitol aims to extend this assistance to more than 4,000 transport workers. This group includes not only drivers but also operators and conductors, highlighting a comprehensive approach to supporting the local transportation sector during challenging times.
