In a significant blow to criminal elements, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) confiscated illegal narcotics with an estimated street value exceeding P2.71 million during a series of aggressive operations spanning one week.
Massive Drug Haul and Arrests
Authorities reported that from January 4 to 10, 2026, police personnel executed 28 separate anti-drug operations across the city. These actions resulted in the apprehension of 32 suspects and the recovery of a substantial quantity of prohibited substances.
The seized contraband included:
- 85.93 grams of shabu valued at P584,324
- 1,514 grams of high-grade marijuana kush worth P1,816,800
- 2,445.36 grams of marijuana leaves valued at P293,443
- 340 grams of marijuana oil estimated at P17,000
Broad Campaign Against Multiple Crimes
The drug busts were part of a larger, weeklong campaign guided by the "four focused directives" of Acting City Director Col. Mannan C. Muarip. The strategy targeted not only illegal drugs but also gambling, wanted persons, and loose firearms.
In a parallel effort to bring fugitives to justice, the DCPO launched 31 manhunt operations. This initiative successfully led to the capture of 31 individuals, nine of whom were classified as the city's most wanted persons.
The crackdown on illegal gambling saw police conduct 11 operations, arresting 11 suspects and confiscating P3,230 in bet money. Police confirmed that criminal charges have been filed against all those arrested in the gambling raids.
Firearms Recovery and Community Cooperation
Targeting the proliferation of unregistered guns, authorities carried out eight operations focused on loose firearms. This led to the arrest of four individuals and the recovery or voluntary surrender of seven firearms. An additional weapon was turned over for safekeeping under the police's "Oplan Katok" initiative.
Combining all facets of the campaign, the DCPO recorded a total of 78 individuals arrested in connection with the various law enforcement actions.
Col. Muarip attributed the operation's success to the dedication of police personnel and the vital cooperation extended by barangay officials and the local government unit. He emphasized that the DCPO remains committed to sustaining these intensified operations to ensure public safety and uphold peace and order in Davao City.
