Iloilo Police Apprehend High-Value Drug Suspect in Balasan Operation
In a significant crackdown on illegal drug activities, the Balasan Municipal Police Station (MPS) successfully arrested a high-value individual and confiscated a substantial quantity of suspected shabu valued at P442,000. The operation, which took place on March 28, 2026, at approximately 1 p.m. in Barangay Poblacion Sur, Balasan, Iloilo, marks a notable achievement in the ongoing anti-drug campaign across the province.
Details of the Arrest and Seizure
The suspect, identified only by the alias Toto, is a 47-year-old male resident of Barangay Gimamanay, Balasan, Iloilo. According to police reports, Toto is a barbershop owner who lives with a partner. The arrest was carried out by operatives from the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of the Balasan MPS, under the supervision of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO). The operation was led by Police Lieutenant Patrick John DC Alabado, the officer-in-charge of Balasan MPS, following weeks of intensive monitoring and surveillance.
Authorities seized approximately 65 grams of suspected shabu during the buy-bust operation. The confiscated drugs have a Standard Drug Price (SDP) estimated at P442,000. All seized items were properly documented and will be submitted for laboratory examination as part of the legal proceedings against the suspect.

The operation was initiated based on reliable information provided by concerned citizens regarding Toto's alleged involvement in illegal drug activities. A three-week surveillance period confirmed that the suspect was actively participating in the drug trade, sourcing shabu from Estancia and distributing it within Balasan, Iloilo. Police Colonel Bayani Razalan, the provincial director of IPPO, commended the operating team and the community for their crucial support.
