Lapu-Lapu City Fire District Building Upgraded for Better Services

In a significant move to enhance public service delivery, the Lapu-Lapu City Fire District building has undergone a major upgrade, providing improved facilities for firefighters and boosting emergency response capabilities. The renovated structure now features better living quarters for personnel, more spacious work areas, air-conditioned offices, and a more efficient space for processing Fire Inspection Certificates.

Ceremony Marks New Chapter for Fire Services

During a blessing and turnover ceremony held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, Mayor Ma. Cynthia "Cindi" Chan expressed optimism that the newly renovated building will accelerate work processes and offer enhanced support to the firefighters serving Lapu-Lapu City. "As our city continues to grow and prosper, the needs of our people also increase. It is essential that we continuously improve and strengthen our infrastructure to match those growing demands," stated Chan.

Focus on Public Safety and Disaster Preparedness

According to the mayor, this renovation is part of the local government's ongoing efforts to bolster public safety and disaster preparedness, particularly by improving emergency response capacities. The facility, which was damaged by Typhoon Odette in December 2021, received a P26 million budget allocation from the City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management (CDRRM) office to fund the upgrades.

Improved Conditions for Emergency Responders

Lapu-Lapu City Fire District Fire Marshal Arnel Abella informed reporters that the renovated quarters will provide a safer, more comfortable, and appropriate resting environment for responders. He added that offices within the fire district building were also upgraded as part of the renovation project, ensuring a modern and functional workspace.

Key Officials Attend the Event

The ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Deputy Chief for Operations Fire Chief Superintendent Wilberto Rico Neil Kwan Tiu and BFP 7 Director Fire Chief Superintendent Fred Trajeras Jr. Also present were Vice Mayor Celedonio Sitoy, Lone District Representative Junard "Ahong" Chan, members of the City Council, CDRRM Office head Nagiel Bañacia, and other officials and personnel, highlighting the collaborative effort behind this infrastructure improvement.
