The Mandaue City Traffic Enforcement Agency (Team) has completed a five-day refresher training for its personnel aimed at strengthening professionalism, improving traffic law enforcement, and addressing complaints from motorists.
Training details and objectives
According to Team chief Hyll Retuya, the training covered proper apprehension procedures, correct treatment of motorists, and reminders on do's and don'ts while on duty. The sessions also emphasized the city's strict policy against extortion and misuse of government equipment.
“The purpose of this refresher training is to remind our personnel of the proper procedures in apprehending motorists and to address the complaints we have received. We also stressed that extortion and other violations will not be tolerated,” Retuya said.
Schedule and participation
The training was conducted in five batches on June 22, 23, 24, 29, and 30, 2026, to ensure that traffic operations across Mandaue City were not disrupted. Over 200 field personnel underwent the training.
Use of video evidence and warnings
Retuya added that participants were shown video footage of past extortion incidents as a warning. He cautioned that personnel found violating the law or abusing their authority could be dismissed from service.
