Marcos Leads Brigada Eskwela, Health Caravan in Bulacan

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday led the annual Brigada Eskwela and the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Yakap at Kalinga health caravan at Obando Central School in Obando, Bulacan. The initiative underscores the government's commitment to preparing schools for the upcoming academic year while delivering essential healthcare services to teachers, personnel, and students.

School Preparation and Community Involvement

The activity is part of the nationwide school maintenance program, drawing participation from teachers, parents, volunteers, and local officials. Together, they engaged in classroom cleaning, repairs, and facility checks to ensure a clean, safe, and conducive learning environment ahead of the June class opening.

According to DepEd’s official calendar for school year 2026-2027, classes are set to begin on June 8, 2026, and will conclude on April 8, 2027.

Health Services for Educators and Learners

During the event, Marcos also witnessed the rollout of DepEd’s ongoing medical mission, which provided basic healthcare services and assistance to teachers and students. The YAKAP program is a comprehensive initiative focused on promoting the welfare of teachers, school personnel, and students.

Beneficiaries received access to basic laboratory services and free medicines, strengthening the school-based health support system. Marcos’ visit highlighted the government’s efforts to integrate health and education services to better support learners and school personnel, particularly in local communities.
