Authorities in Nueva Ecija made a significant bust over the weekend, apprehending a suspect and confiscating illegal drugs valued at over one million pesos alongside an unlicensed firearm. The operation unfolded in the Science City of Muñoz following a distress call about a violent threat.
Dramatic Arrest Follows Grave Threat Report
On Saturday night, December 27, 2025, the Science City of Muñoz Police swiftly responded to a report of a man threatening a family member with a gun in Barangay Catalanacan. The call came in at approximately 8:14 p.m., prompting an immediate police response to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers located the suspect, who attempted to escape using a parked vehicle. Law enforcers successfully intercepted the individual, preventing his flight and taking him into custody.
Cache of Contraband Uncovered
A subsequent search led to the discovery of a 9mm pistol with a defaced serial number. The firearm, found with a magazine containing five live rounds, was not supported by any valid license or documentation.
Further inspection revealed a substantial haul of illegal drugs. The seized items included:
- High-grade marijuana
- Marijuana leaves
- Marijuana-infused cigarette sticks
- Vape cartridges with marijuana derivatives
The total estimated street value of the narcotics reached a staggering PHP1,038,000. Police also recovered various drug paraphernalia, a firearm holster, and a vehicle linked to the arrested suspect.
