PRO-3 Destroys P500K in Illegal Firecrackers for New Year Safety
P500K Illegal Fireworks Destroyed in Central Luzon

Authorities in Central Luzon have taken a decisive step to ensure public safety for the upcoming holiday, destroying a significant cache of prohibited pyrotechnics. The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3) announced the ceremonial destruction of illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices valued at approximately P500,000.

Ceremonial Destruction for Public Safety

The disposal event was conducted on Monday, December 30, 2025. Brigadier General Rogelio Peñones, the director of PRO-3, led the initiative as part of intensified measures to safeguard communities during the New Year celebration. He emphasized that the operation was a proactive effort to prevent accidents and injuries commonly associated with the use of dangerous fireworks.

Coordinated Effort and Confiscated Items

To facilitate the safe disposal of the hazardous materials, the Philippine National Police coordinated closely with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). The destroyed items were confiscated in numerous police operations conducted by various units across the entire Central Luzon region in the lead-up to the holidays.

The inventory of destroyed fireworks included a range of banned and highly dangerous types, such as:

  • Boga (improvised cannons)
  • Kwitis
  • Goodbye Philippines
  • Lolo thunder
  • Plapla
  • Tuna
  • Judas belt
  • Giant whistle bombs

A Preventive Measure Against Harm

Brig. Gen. Peñones clearly stated the purpose behind the crackdown. "The removal and destruction of these prohibited firecrackers are preventive measures to protect lives, prevent injuries, and avoid unnecessary incidents," he said. The move underscores the government's commitment to enforcing regulations on pyrotechnics, especially those that pose a severe risk of fire, explosion, and physical harm to users and bystanders. This operation serves as a stern warning against the manufacture, distribution, and use of illegal fireworks in the region.
