PDEA Busts Senior Citizen-Led Drug Den in Bulacan, Three Suspects Arrested
In a significant crackdown on illegal drug activities, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region III conducted a successful buy-bust operation in Barangay Muzon South, San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan, last Saturday, resulting in the arrest of three individuals, including a senior citizen.
Details of the Arrest and Seized Evidence
The operation, led by operatives from the PDEA Bulacan Provincial Office and the PNP Provincial Intelligence Team Bulacan East Regional Intelligence Unit 3, targeted a suspected drug den allegedly operated by a 64-year-old man, identified only as "Lolo." During the raid, agents apprehended Lolo along with two other suspects: Boyet, 35, and Jay, 48, who were found at the scene.
Authorities confiscated substantial evidence, including six sachets containing approximately six grams of shabu, with an estimated street value of P40,800. Additionally, assorted sniffing paraphernalia and the buy-bust money used in the operation were seized, further strengthening the case against the suspects.
Legal Actions and Charges
All three individuals will face charges under Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. This law imposes severe penalties for drug-related offenses, highlighting the government's ongoing efforts to combat the proliferation of illegal substances in the region.
The collaboration between PDEA and local police units underscores a coordinated approach to law enforcement, aiming to disrupt drug networks and enhance community safety in Bulacan and surrounding areas.
