The Philippine National Police (PNP) is currently examining the potential filing of criminal charges against a social media vlogger who publicly posted a photograph of himself donning the PNP's ceremonial blue police uniform. During a press briefing held at Camp Crame on Thursday, February 12, 2026, Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño, chief of the PNP Public Information Office, disclosed that the vlogger could face charges under Article 179 of the Revised Penal Code. This statute penalizes the unauthorized wearing of a PNP uniform or insignia with imprisonment of up to six months. General Tuaño emphasized that police authorities are actively tracing the origin of the uniform to determine how the vlogger acquired it.
Furthermore, under Executive Order 297, businesses involved in the manufacture or sale of police uniforms without proper authorization may confront severe consequences, including closure, product confiscation, license cancellation, and substantial fines.
