PRO-7 Director Honored with Prestigious PNP Medal for Flawless Sinulog Security Operation
Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., the Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), has formally recognized and honored Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, the director of Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 in Central Visayas. This commendation comes in direct response to Maranan's exceptionally effective leadership in overseeing security operations during the recent Fiesta Señor and Sinulog Festival celebrations held last month.
Highest Honor for Exceptional Service
Brigadier General Maranan was the proud recipient of the PNP Special Service Medal, officially known as the Medalya ng Pambihirang Paglilingkod. This award stands as one of the highest honors bestowed by the PNP National Headquarters, reserved exclusively for personnel who have demonstrated truly extraordinary achievements and accomplishments in their line of duty and public service.
Intelligence-Driven Plan Ensures Public Safety
Serving as the Task Group Commander for the major event, Maranan spearheaded a comprehensive, intelligence-driven security blueprint. This meticulous plan was instrumental in guaranteeing the safety and security of the millions of devotees, local residents, and tourists who participated in the vibrant festivities. Thanks to the stringent and vigilant security measures implemented under his command, authorities recorded a remarkable zero incidents of major crime throughout the entire duration of the celebration.
Unified Effort Under Effective Leadership
The successful security operation was characterized by seamless inter-agency coordination, orchestrated under Maranan's directive. A unified front was established, bringing together the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), various Local Government Units (LGUs), Force Multipliers, and the broader community. This collaborative triumph aligns perfectly with Maranan's guiding principle and philosophy: “Makabagong Pulis sa Makabagong Panahon. Respetado ang Mamamayan, Disiplinado ang Kapulisan,” which translates to “Modern Police for Modern Times. The Citizen is Respected, The Police are Disciplined.” This ethos is a key component of the larger PNP Chief's program, “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas” or “New PNP for a New Philippines.”
Recognition Dedicated to the Entire PRO-7 Team
In response to receiving the honor, Brigadier General Maranan expressed profound gratitude to the PNP leadership. He humbly dedicated the medal to the dedicated men and women serving under PRO-7. “I thank the CPNP for this recognition given to PRO7, and most especially to the hardworking men and women of PRO7 whose dedication, discipline, and teamwork made the peaceful and successful conduct of Sinulog possible. This award belongs to every police officer and partner who stood on the frontlines to serve and protect,” Maranan stated. He further emphasized that the accolade is not merely an acknowledgment of a single operation but a powerful demonstration of the PNP leadership's deep trust and confidence in the police force of Central Visayas.
