Authorities in Cebu scored a significant victory in the war against illegal drugs with the arrest of two alleged pushers in a targeted buy-bust operation over the weekend.
Nighttime Operation Nets Suspects and Drugs
The Dalaguete Police Station, under the leadership of Police Major Vincent Zozobrado, conducted the sting operation at approximately 6:30 in the evening on Saturday, December 27, 2025. The location was Barangay Tapon in the Municipality of Dalaguete, Cebu.
The operation successfully apprehended two individuals believed to be involved in the local drug trade. The primary suspect was identified as Mark Louie Bejona, alias "Macloy," 31 years old, a resident of Barangay Poblacion in Dalaguete. His alleged accomplice was Alvin Amacna Mariscal, alias "Kabs," 30 years old, also from Barangay Poblacion.
Evidence Seized from the Scene
During the arrest, operatives confiscated substantial evidence linking the suspects to illegal drug activities. The seized items included:
- Eight small heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu.
- One medium-sized plastic pack of the same illegal substance.
- The P500-peso bill used as marked buy-bust money.
- An additional P300 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
The total weight of the confiscated suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, was 3.5 grams. According to the standard drug valuation, the seized narcotics have an estimated street value of P23,800.
Prior Records and Ongoing Campaign
Police Major Zozobrado revealed to Sunstar Superbalita Cebu that this was not the first encounter with one of the suspects. Alias "Macloy" (Bejona) had a previous arrest record for illegal possession of a firearm. Furthermore, the police chief described alias "Kabs" (Mariscal) as acting as a runner or trusted assistant to Macloy within their illegal drug operation.
This latest buy-bust underscores the continuous and relentless efforts of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Cebu to curb the distribution of illegal drugs at the community level. The successful operation removes a source of illicit substances from the streets of Dalaguete and holds the suspects accountable under the Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
