Residents and tourists in Davao City ushered in Christmas Day 2025 amidst vibrant holiday displays at the City Hall grounds, enjoying a festive atmosphere marked by an exceptional state of peace and order across the entire Davao Region.
Comprehensive Security Deployment Ensures Safety
The Police Regional Office in Davao Region (PRO-Davao) successfully reported zero major crime incidents during the Christmas holidays. This positive outcome was attributed to the intensified security operations of the Ligtas Paskuhan 2025 campaign, which authorities described as resulting in a "generally peaceful and orderly" celebration.
From December 16 to 25, PRO-Davao mobilized a formidable force of 2,621 personnel to safeguard the public. This security blanket was composed of:
- 1,234 Philippine National Police (PNP) officers
- 415 augmentation forces
- 972 members from various advocacy support groups
Strategic Coverage Across Key Areas
To manage the holiday surge in travel, police established motorist assistance hubs manned by 422 personnel. These hubs, strategically located across the region, provided aid to commuters and maintained a visible deterrent presence on major roads.
Security coverage was meticulously planned for high-traffic locations:
- 264 personnel were assigned to transportation terminals.
- 330 personnel secured tourist destinations.
- A significant force of 1,227 personnel was deployed to places of worship.
- 378 personnel monitored other convergence areas.
Proactive Operations and Community Cooperation
PRO-Davao Director, Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete, confirmed the effectiveness of their preventive strategy. The region recorded not only zero serious crimes like murder, homicide, rape, robbery, and carnapping but also zero incidents involving firecrackers or stray bullets.
Beyond visibility patrols, PRO-Davao conducted simultaneous anti-criminality operations that yielded substantial results:
- 58 anti-illegal drug operations
- Arrest of 63 wanted individuals
- 11 operations against illegal gambling
- Recovery of 18 loose firearms
- 11 other law enforcement actions
General Rosete highlighted that the peaceful season was a product of both police dedication and strong community cooperation. He emphasized that public vigilance plays a critical role in sustaining peace, especially during peak seasons.
With security operations remaining heightened until the end of the holiday period, PRO-Davao continues to encourage the public to report any suspicious activities. This year's success mirrors the peaceful record of previous years, reinforcing Davao Region's reputation as one of the country's safest areas during the holidays.
