PNP to Resume Fact-Finding Review on EJK-Related Incidents
PNP Resumes EJK Fact-Finding Review

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will resume its fact-finding review on extra-judicial killings (EJKs) and related incidents. This follows an order from Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla to the national police, led by PNP Chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., to continue investigating reported complaints concerning EJK-related incidents during past police operations, including the period when Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa served as Davao City Police Director.

PNP Chief Confirms Investigation

PNP Chief Nartatez stated that the investigation will proceed based on evidence anchored on existing case materials and reports submitted by various police units and oversight bodies. He confirmed that the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has been tasked to lead the investigation and will begin issuing subpoenas to individuals identified in case records as part of standard fact-finding procedures.

Subpoenas Not Arrest Warrants

The PNP clarified that the subpoenas are not arrest warrants but legal instruments aimed at obtaining information and clarifying findings. Officials assured that the process will be conducted fairly and without bias.

Possible Invitation for Dela Rosa

According to Nartatez, individuals named in past reports, including former PNP Chief Dela Rosa, may be invited to provide information. The PNP explained that the review aims to address long-standing questions about past operations and strengthen institutional accountability.
