Gilas Pilipinas Begins Brisbane Training Camp for Fiba Qualifiers

The Philippine men's national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas, departed for Brisbane, Australia, on Tuesday afternoon, June 23, 2026, to begin a weeklong training camp ahead of the third window of the Fiba World Cup Asian qualifiers. Head coach Tim Cone leads a 12-man roster, assisted by deputies Jong Uichico, Sean Chambers, and LA Tenorio.

Open Workout and Fan Engagement

Prior to departure, the team held an open workout for fans at Playtime Filoil Centre in San Juan City on Monday night. During the event, Cone stated, “We’ll be there (Brisbane) for four days before we proceed to New Zealand.” The team will play two friendlies on June 28 and 29, including a match against National Basketball League team Brisbane Bullets, who are providing facilities and support.

Roster and Player Updates

Eleven of the 12 players attended the open workout, with Kevin Quiambao absent due to a personal matter. New members Mike Philips, Justin Baltazar, Troy Rosario, and Juan Gomez De Liano—who replaced the injured Scottie Thompson—joined the lineup. Completing the roster are Justin Brownlee, RJ Abarrientos, Chris Newsome, June Mar Fajardo, AJ Edu, Carl Tamayo, and Dwight Ramos.
