Philippine Ladies Open 2026 Set to Showcase Rising Stars and Global Talent

The 2026 Philippine Ladies Open, a premier golf tournament, is scheduled to take place from February 24 to 26, 2026, at the prestigious Manila Golf & Country Club in Forbes Park, Makati City. This annual event, organized by the Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines (WGAP) and supported by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), serves as a critical platform for top amateur talents and international standouts to demonstrate their skills and compete at a high level.

Historic Springboard for Champions

The Philippine Ladies Open has a storied history of launching careers, with notable alumnae including Bianca Pagdanganan and Filipino-Japanese star Yuka Saso. PSC Chairperson Patrick Gregorio emphasized in a recent news release that the tournament is where journeys to global success begin, citing Pagdanganan and Saso as examples of Filipina golfers who have excelled on the world stage.

Pagdanganan, who won the tournament in 2017, later achieved international acclaim by securing an individual bronze medal and team gold at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia. Saso, a two-time U.S. Open champion, dominated the Philippine Ladies Open in 2018 and 2019, further highlighting the event's role in developing elite competitors. Additionally, World No. 1 Atthaya "Jeeno" Thitikul of Thailand participated in the tournament in 2017 and 2018, underscoring its international appeal.

Expanding Impact and Future Prospects

WGAP Secretary Greely Oposa noted that the tournament sharpens the competitive edge of young golfers, preparing them for international competitions. Looking ahead, Gregorio expressed optimism about the future, stating that with continued support for grassroots programs, the next generation of Filipina golfers will not only follow in the footsteps of past champions but surpass them, bringing pride to the nation through global podium finishes.

Beyond the flagship Philippine Ladies Open, WGAP is expanding its influence in 2026 with three cornerstone competitions designed to strengthen the women’s golf pipeline in the country. The 30th Luzvimin Invitational will be held at the scenic John Hay Golf Course in Baguio City, while the six-leg WGAP Circuit and WGAP Cup, running from April to October, will feature over 220 women golfers from 15 member clubs, culminating in a high-stakes match play showdown.

Mission and Growth of WGAP

With 555 members, WGAP continues to champion both grassroots and elite-level development for women golfers nationwide. Its programs are focused on cultivating talent, building competitive experience, and creating clear pathways to international success. This comprehensive approach ensures that the Philippine Ladies Open remains a crown jewel in the association’s efforts to elevate women’s golf in the Philippines and beyond.
