The Central Luzon delegation officially departed today for the 2026 Palarong Pambansa in Agusan del Sur, carrying the hopes and dreams of Region III. The young athletes, representing the region of heroes, are eager to showcase their talents and compete at the national level.
Holistic Development Through Sports
Year after year, the Palarong Pambansa plays a crucial role in developing well-rounded learners by emphasizing physical discipline and sports prowess. These competitions provide a platform for students to excel in various sporting events, aligning with the Department of Education's mission to promote holistic development. Participation in sports enhances physical strength, mental resilience, and instills values such as discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence.
Inspiring Success Stories
The Palarong Pambansa has been a launching pad for many successful athletes. Victonara “Ara” Galang of Angeles City represented Region III in 2011 and earned the Best Server Award in girls' indoor volleyball. She later became a UAAP Rookie of the Year, MVP, and multi-time champion for De La Salle University, eventually representing the Philippines internationally. Aljay Villena from the Science City of Muñoz, once known for a viral video of him practicing barefoot, became a gold medalist in the Hardbat Junior Boys' Singles Division at the U.S. Open Table Tennis Championship. Lydia De Vega of Meycauayan City, dubbed Asia's fastest woman in the 1980s, was discovered through the Palarong Pambansa and went on to win multiple medals in the SEA and Asian Games.
