Cebu Sports Awards 2026 to Honor Coaches and Athletes Nationwide
The Sportswriters Association of Cebu-San Miguel Brewery (SAC-SMB) Cebu Sports Awards is set to celebrate its 40th anniversary with a grand ceremony on March 8, 2026, at the Activity Center in Ayala Center Cebu. This prestigious event will honor numerous coaches and athletes not only for their impact on Cebu sports but also for their contributions to the national sports scene.
Special Citations for Outstanding Athletes
A diverse group of athletes will receive special citations, highlighting their achievements across various sports disciplines. The honorees include:
- Mark Mahinay in athletics
- Nickson Andwele Cabañero in basketball
- Boxing stars Arlando Senoc, Rodex Piala, Christian Araneta, and Christian Balunan
- Toledo-Xignex Trojans in chess
- Dancesport champions Marlon Aliño and Lucy Hamilton
- Football players Kamil Jaser Amirul and Ronito Mendoza
Additional athletes to be recognized are Aaron Rey Cañete (basketball referee), Allison Kyle Quiroga (karatedo), Juancho Miguel Masecampo (shooting), Motic Panogalinog (skateboarding), John Dexter Tabique and Fernando Agad (weightlifting), Lord Garnett Talisic (scrabble), and tennis players Everett Pete Niere, Claudwin Seven Toñacao, and Juvels Velos.

The awards will also celebrate team successes in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI). Honored teams include:
- Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles and University of the Visayas Green Lancers in basketball
- Don Bosco Technical College Greywolves in football
- Volleyball teams: University of Cebu Webmasters, University of San Jose-Recoletos Lady Jaguars, and University of San Carlos Lady Warriors
