Filipina tennis star Alex Eala has climbed to a higher position in the latest Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings following her campaign at the Madrid Open. From No. 44, Eala rose to No. 42 in the singles rankings after advancing to the second round of the tournament, where she added 35 points to bring her total to 1,285 points.
Strong Performance in Singles
In her campaign, Eala defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the first round with a score of 6-3, 6-3. She then lost to Elise Mertens in the second round, 2-6, 1-6.
Doubles Success
In doubles, Eala partnered with Zeynep Sonmez, reaching the second round. They defeated Chan Hao-ching and Fanny Stollar in the first round, 6-2, 6-2, before falling to Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend in the second round, 1-6, 5-7. Thanks to her performance, Eala earned 120 points in doubles, propelling her to a career-high ranking of No. 88, up from No. 99.
Next Stop: Italian Open
Eala is currently in Rome preparing for her participation in the Italian Open.
