Collaborative Effort

The activity was a result of the joint efforts of the Municipal Government of Valencia, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), SK Federation, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the 4Ps program. It provided participants with an opportunity to enhance their facilitation skills, youth-centered approaches, and strategies for effectively engaging young people in community development initiatives.

Funding and Topics

The workshop was implemented using a separate budget of PHP 554,000 from the Children’s Welfare–Youth Development Sessions Fund and the SK of Valencia. Topics discussed included the 4Ps program, positive youth development, transformative learning, and effective facilitation techniques. Simulation activities and planning workshops were also conducted to prepare participants for facilitating YDS sessions in their respective communities.

Key Outcomes

One of the significant achievements of the three-day training was the creation of a three-year YDS implementation plan for Valencia. This is expected to serve as a guide for strengthening youth programs across various barangays. Participants also discussed the proposed establishment of a municipal YDS team to further strengthen and institutionalize youth-focused interventions and collaboration among stakeholders.

DSWD Recognition

“The DSWD recognizes the importance of investing in our young people and empowering them to become active partners in community development. Through strengthened collaboration among Sangguniang Kabataan officials, youth leaders, and partner agencies, this initiative creates more opportunities for meaningful youth participation and leadership while supporting the holistic development of our youth in Valencia,” said Migueliza V. Felias, Social Welfare Officer III of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Bohol Cluster 1.

Also present at the event were Project Development Officer II Luzel Brillo and Charisma Mae Bernaldez, who assisted in managing the learning sessions and workshops for participants.

Continuing Efforts

The YDS Trainers’ Training and Planning Workshop is part of the ongoing efforts of Valencia to mold responsible youth with strong leadership and active community participation, contributing to sustainable local development and nation-building.
